Confucius say ...

It's probably true to say that Confucius is better known (in the Western world, at least) for the supposedly funny things that he is supposed to have said, than for the wise things that he actually did say (or write).

Here is a collection of some of the more witty (and more printable) things that Confucius didn't say. Example: "He who thinks only of number one must remember this number is next to nothing."

Wikiquote has an extensive collection of actual quotes from Confucius. Example: "Fine words and an insinuating appearance are seldom associated with true virtue." Wikiquote helpfully paraphrases this to "Someone who is a clever speaker and maintains a 'too–smiley' face is seldom considered a humane person."
